Kingsway Furniture & Appliance is a family-owned store at 950 S Kings Hwy in Sikeston, Missouri — right on US-61, less than a mile north of Lambert’s Cafe, in the heart of a community we call home. We serve families across Scott, Mississippi, New Madrid, Dunklin, and Butler counties, with most of our customers coming in from Sikeston, Cape Girardeau, Poplar Bluff, Charleston, Kennett, New Madrid, Morehouse, and Miner.
This part of Missouri has its own way of doing things. People here don’t respond well to high-pressure sales floors or salespeople who disappear after the handshake. They ask direct questions and want direct answers. That’s the environment we were built for — and it shapes every conversation in our showroom.
The brands on our floor aren’t there because a distributor pushed us — they’re there because we’ve watched them hold up in Southeast Missouri homes.
Flexsteel builds sofas and sectionals around a Blue Steel spring system — a single continuous spring rod anchored to the frame rather than independent coils that can shift and squeak over years of use. In a region where families buy furniture to last, not to replace in five years, that construction difference matters. Their frames use kiln-dried hardwood, which means the wood won’t warp or pull apart at the joints the way green lumber does when humidity fluctuates.
La-Z-Boy recliners and lift chairs carry the kind of name recognition that comes from actually delivering. Their motion mechanisms are tested to open and close tens of thousands of times before leaving the factory. For customers in our area who are buying a recliner for a parent with limited mobility, that reliability isn’t a marketing claim — it’s the reason the chair gets purchased.
Ultra Comfort lift chairs are built specifically around comfort for users who need a powered lift to stand safely. The lift mechanism applies even pressure across the full seat, rather than just tipping the chair forward, which makes a meaningful difference for someone with hip or knee issues. We carry these because families in this area come in specifically looking for them — usually on behalf of a parent or grandparent — and they deserve an informed recommendation, not a guess.
Sealy mattresses are engineered around zoned support — different coil gauges in different sections of the mattress to align with how the body actually distributes weight during sleep. A lower back that needs firmer support gets it. Shoulders and hips that need give, get that. The construction varies by line, and we know which collections work for which sleep positions and health concerns.
Whirlpool appliances earn their place because they’re serviceable locally. In Southeast Missouri, where the nearest large appliance service center can be 45 minutes away, buying a brand that qualified technicians can actually get parts for isn’t a minor consideration.
